Allegations

When registered as a Social Worker, and employed by the London Borough of Redbridge in the role of Practice Manager for the Emergency Duty Team (EDT), you:

1. On or around 30 April 2017 – 1 May 2017, following a referral made by the police in relation to Child 1 who was in police custody, did not:*
a.  Adequately respond to a police request for a secure accommodation placement for Child 1;*
b.  Ensure that an appropriate adult carried out a visit in respect of Child 1 while he was in custody;*
c.  Ensure that a welfare visit to Child 1 was carried out while he was in custody;*
d.  Ensure that the requirement arrangements were put in place for Child 1 as set out in the EDT Processes and Procedures, set out in paragraphs:*
                                               i.   3.16 Police Protection – Accommodation;*
                                              ii.  3.18 Requests for Secure Accommodation; and*
                                             iii.   3.20 Youth Police and Criminal Evidence (PACE) Interviews/Appropriate Adult Requests;*
 
2. On or around 26 September 2017, following a referral made by the police in relation to Child 2 who was in police custody, did not*
a. Ensure that an appropriate adult carried out a visit in respect of Child 2 while she was in custody;*
b. Ensure that a welfare visit to Child 2 was carried out while she was in custody.*
 
The matters described in paragraphs 1 -2 constitute misconduct.*
 
By reason of your misconduct your fitness to practise is impaired.*
