Allegations
Whilst registered as a social worker, between October and December 2018, in respect of an adoption application by Person A (“the application”) you:
1.1 Recorded untrue and/or inaccurate information on Person A’s file, as set out in Schedule A.
1.2 Did not and/or did not appropriately explore the issues that were identified and cited in the decision not to progress the application, as set out in Schedule B, including a lack of consideration of the written information provided by Person A.
1.3 Did not follow appropriate policies/guidelines as set out in Schedule C in respect of the application.
The matters above amount to the statutory ground of misconduct.
Your fitness to practise is impaired by reason of misconduct.
SCHEDULE A
- That Person A was told 9 years ago by London Borough of Islington that they would not assess Person A for adoption due to their lack of childcare experience, or words to that effect; and/or
- That Person A had not evidenced that they had lived with anyone else during adulthood, or words to that effect; and/or
3. That Person A had a limited understanding of what constituted abuse, or words to that effect;
SCHEDULE B
1. The reason for choosing to adopt when Person A could still have their own biological children; and/or
2. Person A’s understanding regarding what constitutes child abuse; and/or
The ability to present a coherent narrative about Person A’s childhood and how this shaped them; and/or
3. How Person A used counselling to make sense of past experiences.
