Our 5th annual Social Work Week concluded with record engagement, attracting more than 6,754 attendees. The week long celebration hosted by Social Work England provided valuable professional development opportunities, while highlighting the essential role social workers deliver across the UK.

Social workers, related professionals and those with lived experience participated in a diverse programme of sessions, offering a chance to reflect on best practice and develop professional skills. All whilst celebrating achievements within the profession.

Across the week, there were:

  • 15 free online sessions
  • 58 presenters including people with lived and learned experience, with backgrounds across health, social care, education and research
  • 6,754 attendees

Social Work Week brought together thousands of people, including professionals and people with lived experience to learn, connect and influence the future of the social work profession.

Sarah Blackmore, executive director of professional practice and external engagement at Social Work England, said:

“Thank you to the presenters and everyone who attended our 5th Social Work Week programme of events. This year’s response has been exceptional, with thousands of people taking the time to learn, connect and engage on this vital profession through our online events, but also in their local communities.

It has been wonderful to see people once again embrace this annual moment to start a national conversation on social work and the impact it has on people's lives."

Future action

Next week we’ll be sharing a read out highlighting key themes from across all sessions.

Videos of the sessions will be available in April on the Social Work England YouTube channel for you to watch, share with colleagues and record as continuing professional development (CPD).
