Public consultation on changes to Social Work England’s fees has now closed
5/13/2025 5:00:00 PM
Thank you to everyone who responded to our public consultation on our proposals to make changes to the fees we charge social workers, including new applicants.
This consultation is now closed. This consultation was open for 12 weeks and closed at 5pm on Tuesday 13 May 2025.
The proposals
The proposals we consulted on were to increase our initial registration, renewal, restoration, and scrutiny fees from 1 September 2025. We also proposed to increase our fees each year after this by 1.85% until 2029.
You can read the full proposal in detail here.
What happens now?
We are now analysing the responses we have received to this consultation. We anticipate that we will publish our response and a decision on this consultation in summer 2025. Any proposed changes will also need to be agreed by the Secretary of State for Education.
If we decide to increase our fees, we will contact everyone on the social work register directly to inform them of any changes and what this will mean for them.
