Social Work England, the specialist regulator for social workers in England, has launched a new annual survey for social workers to understand their thoughts on regulation, professional standards and perceptions of social work and how these might change over time.
The online survey takes just 5 minutes to complete and will help Social Work England understand how its work is incrementally enabling positive change in social work by developing its relationship with the profession.
Social workers can complete the online survey on the Social Work England website. There are 9 short questions, and all responses are anonymous.
The survey deadline is 12 noon on Monday 20 May 2024. Anyone who needs help with the survey should email surveys@socialworkengland.org.uk.
Once the survey has closed, Social Work England will analyse the responses. They will publish a summary of the feedback received in autumn 2024 and will share further details of how these results will inform its activities going forward.
Colum Conway, CEO at Social Work England commented:
“One of our objectives is to build confidence in social work and one way to do that is to underpin the value of professional standards. In our published plans we have said we would collect information through an annual survey, so that over time we can show the value social workers place on their professional standards. These standards were developed in partnership with the sector and introduced in July 2019 as the threshold for safe and effective practice.
“The survey builds on our existing research and this will allow us to refine, adapt, and improve how we engage with social workers each year. By recording comparable data year on year about social workers' perceptions, we expect to also gather valuable insight into the context of professional practice. The survey is anonymous and voluntary however I encourage social workers to take the time to share their views.”
