Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) courses

We have now published new standards and guidance for AMHP courses 

At present, we are approving and monitoring AMHP courses against standards developed by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). 

These criteria do not replace other standards that are set by Social Work England or other regulators.

Social Work England has reviewed these standards and published new standards and associated guidance in July 2024. The reapproval cycle will begin in summer 2025 against the new standards. We will contact course providers with a time for your course reapproval.

The process for approving a new AMHP course is the same as for a qualifying social work course. Read our guidance to learn more about the approval criteria.
